iciHaiti - Diplomacy : Investiture of President Abinader, Haiti represented or not ?
According to information circulating, President Edgar Leblanc Fils of the Transitional Council, as well as Prime Minister Garry Conille, would have declined the invitation of the Dominican Republic to participate in the inauguration of President Luis Abinader, on August 16. This decision would have been taken due to the closure of the airspace between the two countries which would have forced the Haitian guests to fly to another country and then go to the Dominican Republic.

A statement from Dominican Chancellor Roberto Álvarez, in order to dispel any misunderstanding, confirms that "[...] the airspace between the Dominican Republic and Haiti is not closed for diplomatic or humanitarian flights. "On August 1st, during a telephone conversation, the Chancellor of Haiti [Dominique Dupuy] asked me if it was not necessary to lift the airspace closure so that they [Haitian officials] could travel to the inauguration of President Abinader. I responded that any flight request from the Haitian authorities would be authorized immediately, as would those of other invited dignitaries. I added that for security reasons, the airspace between the DR and Haiti remains closed to commercial flights, but not to official, humanitarian or similar flights. In addition, I asked the Dominican Ambassador to go to the Haitian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to reiterate my comments."

Should be noted that to date, no official information has confirmed the absence or presence of Haiti at the inauguration of Dominican President Luis Abinader.
