A delegation from the National Bureau of Environmental Assessments (BNEE), led by Director Ninon Angrand, recently carried out a 2-day inspection visit to Baie-des-Moustiques (municipality of Port-de-Paix).

The objective of this visit was to verify the environmental compliance of the quay construction work, as defined in the Environmental and Social Management Plan resulting from the environmental impact study submitted by "Nortwest Trading S.A.", the project promoter.

The monitoring mission took place in two stages. First of all, discussions took place with the firm that carried out the impact study, as well as with the project manager and the project owner. Then, photos were taken to document the progress of the work.

The clues noted during this visit allowed the members of the delegation to have an overview of the work accomplished. At the end of this mission, the BNEE will produce a compliance notice accompanied by recommendations for the project developer, in order to better take into account the environmental and social issues linked to this construction.
