iciHaiti - USA : ADIH requests support from the CPT for the renewal of the HOPE law
Friday July 12, 2014, Presidential Advisor Fritz Alphonse Jean met with Mrs. Sophia Joseph Riboul, Georges Sassine and Delatour Lionel members of the Association of Industries of Haiti (ADIH).

There was discussion of the renewal of the "Haitian Hemisphere Opportunity through Partnership Encouragement" (HOPE) Program and the "Haitian Economic Lift Program" (HELP) which end in June 2025.

Let's recall that the HOPE Act, introduced in response to an economic downturn in Haiti in 2005, removes customs duties on exports of more than 5,000 types of clothing and shoes. Together, HOPE and HELP apply to approximately 93% of Haitian exports to the United States and which employ more than 30,000 Haitian workers.

According to ADIH members, the renewal of the HOPE Act is the only condition that will prevent the closing of the doors of many subcontracting industries in the textile sector.

ADIH members announce that a major activity of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will take place in the United States on July 30, 2024, bringing together several major American entrepreneurs.

ADIH asks advisor Fritz Alphonse Jean to defend this cause with the American Government, with the idea that Congress can renew the HOPE law, which will be beneficial for the sector already hard hit by insecurity (62,000 jobs in this sector in 2021)

On behalf of the Presidential Transitional Council, Fritz Alphonse Jean promised the members of the ADIH that he would follow up with the other members of the Council, Prime Minister Garry Conille and the Minister of Finance, to renew the HOPE law and promote the IDB event.
