iciHaiti - Obituary : Professor Emmanuel Michel Bazile has left us
The Ministry of National Education was saddened to learn of the departure of Professor Emmanuel Michel Bazile who died on Sunday June 30, 2024, at the age of 82.

Born in Saint-Louis du Nord on November 21, 1942, Professor Emmanuel Michel Bazile was Director General of the Ministry from 2004 to 2006, the final stage of a long journey at the Ministry where he was in turn Head of Department of the training at the National Pedagogical Institute (IPN), Educational Director of the IPN and Assistant Director of Basic Education.

During his 39-year career, Mr. Bazile dedicated himself to training several cohorts of students at the Faculty of Law and Economic Sciences (FDSE), the Faculty of Sciences (FSH) of the University of State of Haiti (UEH), and in several universities and higher education centers in the metropolitan region of Port-au-Prince.

As a linguist, he worked, for many years, across the ten Departmental Directorates of Education (DDE), to train trainers in the teaching of Creole, as a mother tongue, and French as a foreign language. Member of the Academy of Haitian Creole since 2014, Professor Emmanuel Michel Bazile spent the last years of his life codifying Creole while defending the idea that the presence of this language be consolidated in all spheres of life social, political and cultural of the country.

The ministry expresses its sympathies to the parents and friends affected by the death of this emeritus professor whose commitment to the education of Haitian youth remains a source of inspiration for all teachers.
