iciHaiti - Obituary : Death of linguist, teacher and writer Pierre Michel Chéry 27/05/2024 09:45:02 Founding member of "Akademi Kreyòl Ayisyen" (AKA), Pierre Michel Chery was a fervent defender and promoter of the Creole language. He collaborated with several institutions working to promote this language, including the "International Organization of Creole People" (IOCP) and the "Rezo Kreyolis Ayisyen" (REKA). As a novelist, he wrote his works exclusively in Haitian Creole. Including : Bèbè Golgota (2008), Senfoni nago (2012), Péleren (2015), Eritye Vilokan, (2021) among others... In this painful circumstance, the National Book Directorate and the Ministry of Culture extend their deep sympathies to his family, his loved ones, his colleagues at the "Akademi Kreyòl Ayisyen" and to the Haitian literary world in general. Born March 18, 1956 in Saint-Michel, in the south of Haiti, Pierre Michel Chéry held a master's degree in Computer Science from the Commonwealth Open University (2002), a bachelor's degree in Management, State University of Haiti (2006).
