iciHaiti - Diaspora : An honorary doctorate from Concordia University for Fabienne Colas
Fabienne Colas will receive an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Concordia University during her spring 2024 convocation (collation des grades). She will be the first Canadian-Quebecer-Montrealer of Haitian origin to receive this high distinction from the University Concordia.

This high distinction brings great recognition to the exceptional work she has accomplished across Canada and internationally for 20 years as a pioneer who works tirelessly and with passion to foster, support and promote diversity and inclusion in the arts and in our society. This coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Fabienne Colas Foundation and the Montreal International Black Film Festival, as well as the 50th anniversary of Concordia University

"An honorary doctorate in fine arts from Concordia University is awarded to Fabienne Colas for her remarkable career and her commitment to fostering greater representation of cultural diversity in the world of arts and entertainment in Quebec, Canada and abroad. internationally," said Graham Carr, President and Vice-Chancellor of Concordia University

Concordia University will award eight honorary doctorates during its spring 2024 graduation ceremonies on June 4th, 5 and 6 at the Wilfrid-Pelletier Hall at Place des Arts at 2:00 a.m. The recipients will join students from Concordia's four faculties and the School of Graduate Studies who will receive their diplomas.

"Being the recipient of an honorary doctorate from Concordia University is a true honor for me and for my community," said Fabienne Colas. "I dedicate this incredible recognition to my family, my dedicated team at the Fabienne Colas Foundation and to all visible minority artists who work in the shadows or try to make their voices heard.
