iciHaiti - FLASH : Attempted escape at Hinche prison 2 inmates killed, 10 injured

Sunday April 28, 2024 around 10:00 a.m. at Hinche Prison, two prisoners were killed during an attempt to seize the weapons of agents of the National Prison Administration (APNEA). Other inmates violently confronted prison officers with homemade bladed weapons in an escape attempt that appeared to have been planned.

It took the intervention of prison security officers who had requested reinforcements from the PNH to regain control of the situation and return the other prisoners to their cells.

According to Me Marlène Abraham, Government Commissioner of Hinche, who accompanied the Justice of the Peace for the report, 2 detainees were killed, 7 detainees were injured as well as 3 APENA agents.
