iciHaiti - Humanitarian : WFP will soon run out of food stocks 12/04/2024 10:14:42 In Haiti, the World Food Program (WFP) announced it was stepping up its food aid to Haiti, but warned that its food stocks could be exhausted by the end of April. It only has enough food in the country to feed 175,000 people for a month and the closure of Haiti's main port and airport, in Port-au-Prince, about a month ago, prevented the delivery of humanitarian supplies to the country. Since the start of the current crisis, WFP has provided emergency assistance to more than 500,000 people, including hot meals for people living in temporary shelters in Port-au-Prince. They also provided cash aid and school meals in the provinces. Meanwhile, the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) continue to support hospitals by providing them with equipment and medicines, including supporting maternal health services. Since March 1st, UNICEF, the International Organization for Migration and their partners have delivered more than 4.5 million liters of drinking water to 29 sites in Port-au-Prince. Unfortunately, the humanitarian response plan for Haiti, presented in January 2024, in the amount of $674 million, is only funded to date at a little less than 7% https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-41480-haiti-un-humanitarian-needs-for-2024-amount-to-us$674-million-to-help-36-million-haitians-report.html Download the 2024 Humanitarian Response Plan for Haiti (PDF in French 59 pages) : https://www.haitilibre.com/docs/Haiti_HNRP_2024_FR_version-finale.pdf See also : https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-41480-haiti-un-humanitarian-needs-for-2024-amount-to-us$674-million-to-help-36-million-haitians-report.html IH/iciHaiti
