José Ernesto Marte Piantini, the President of the JAC, said that the decision to suspend the air transport of goods and passengers between the two countries is with immediate effect, taking into account Article 9 of the Civil Aviation Convention international law which establishes that each Contracting State reserves the right, in exceptional circumstances, during a period of emergency or in the interest of public safety, to temporarily restrict or prohibit flights over all or part of its territory with immediate effect.
Let's remember that since last Friday commercial flights have been suspended from the Dominican Republic due to the situation of violence in Haiti.
