iciHaiti - Crisis : The Ministry of Agriculture attacked, vandalized and looted

The Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR) informs the public in general, partners in the agricultural sector and farmers in particular, that on the day of February 29, 2024, its premises located in Damien, were attacked by heavily armed bandits. These bandits vandalized and then looted the institution, taking away the materials and equipment.

During this attack which lasted several hours, the security agents of the ministry and the students of the FAMV were not spared by the violence and savagery of the bandits who took with them important administrative documents including checks of pay issued to employees.

The Ministry condemns these odious acts and takes the opportunity to warn financial institutions against any transaction on these Public Treasury checks stolen during the looting.

The Ministry is preparing to assess the damage and the extent of the losses and will inform of the measures that will be taken to allow the institution to continue operating.
