iciHaiti - Obituary : Passing of the great historian Marcel B. Auguste 28/02/2024 08:53:02 Mr. Marcel B. Auguste was a renowned historian born in Port-au-Prince, in a neighborhood that he immortalized with a wonderful little book entitled "Si Bas-Peu-De-Chose m'était conté". He taught for nearly 30 years at the former Académie de Québec, now CEPEG de Sainte-Foy. Alongside his teaching career, he published solo "La République d'Haïti et la Deuxième Guerre mondiale" and "Élie Lescot: Coup d'œil sur une administration (1941-1946)". He also authored, in collaboration with his cousin, Dr. Claude B. Auguste, a history of Haiti in four volumes and a key work on the War of Independence, “The Leclerc Expedition, 1801-1803”. Marcel Auguste is the recipient of the Prize of the Haitian Society of History and Geography and the Paul Rivet Prize of the Académie des Sciences d'autre-mer (Paris). IH/iciHaiti
