iciHaiti - Voodoo : The BNE is waiting for you to celebrate «3 Days of Makaya»
The National Bureau of Ethnology (BNE) invites us to celebrate "3 Days of Makaya" (3 Jou Makaya) at the BNE exhibition center on December 20, 21 and 22, 2023.

"3 Jou Makaya" is an activity that will bring together teachers, artisans, voodooists, students, etc... It is a 3-day event to celebrate Makaya, a "mawon" chief who led a division of rebels against slavery.

Activities will take place every day from 10:00 in the morning to 4:00 in the afternoon.

Learn more about Makaya :
"The Makaya period lasts from December 17 to January 6. Makaya was a 'mawon' chief who led a division of rebels against slavery. It was the beginning of the native army. His last rally took place on the night of December 23, 1756. Makaya announced his arrest and how he was going to be killed, but he became a 'gwo vonvon' to be released. He demanded that all slaves continue to tell the truth. But as he had announced, they arrested him and put him on the pyre to burn him, then a loud noise came from the fire. All the slaves were shouting 'jwaye makaya, jwaye makaya'"

For this celebration, the National Bureau of Ethnology is expecting you in large numbers for these 3 days and will take the opportunity to wish everyone a "Souke Makaya".
