The American Coast Guard transported the Haitians in an irregular migratory situation to the port of Mayagüez (West), where border patrol agents took charge of them to hand them over to the migration services for the necessary follow-up. Should be noted that this is not the first time that Haitian migrants have been dropped off on this island surrounded by dangerous waters, with traffickers making them believe that they have arrived on the island of Puerto Rico. From October 2022 to September 30, 2023, the Coast Guard intercepted 2,161 migrants in Puerto Rican waters, mainly Dominicans.
