iciHaiti - Cap-Haitien: Launch of activities for the 220th anniversary of the Battle of Vertières
Thursday, November 16, 2023, the Municipal Commission of Cap-Haitien with the Director of Culture, the Director of Tourism, the Director of MJSAC and a representative of the Northern Haiti Destination Management Organization for the The event officially launched the activities to commemorate the 220th anniversary of the Battle of Vertières.

In her speech Yvrose Pierre, the Mayor of Cap-Haïten honored the heroes of the Battle of Vertières while emphasizing the importance of this event in the fight for independence.

The other speakers then revealed a complete program of events which will take place throughout this weekend : official ceremonies at Vertières and at the Cathedral, historical exhibitions, educational conferences and artistic events highlighting the cultural heritage of Haiti are on the program.

Patrick Almonor, the deputy mayor, insisted that this commemoration is not only an opportunity to reflect on the symbolism of Vertières, but also to strengthen national unity and the desire to pursue a better future.

The authorities strongly encourage participation, encouraging residents of Cap-Haïtien and elsewhere to actively engage in the various activities.
