iciHaiti - Politic : Meeting of the Government with the Canal Construction Committee on the Massacre River
A Government delegation composed of Ministers James Cadet (Environment), Brédy Charlot (Agriculture), Ricardin Saint-Jean (Commerce and Industry), the Director of Cabinet of the Minister of the Interior Paul Harry Voltaire, the Director General of the National Center for Geospatial Information Bobby Emmanuel Piard, stayed on Thursday October 26 and Friday October 27, 2023 in Ouanaminthe to meet the Committee involved in the construction of the irrigation canal with water intake on the Massacre River.

The Ministers, during the meeting, thanked and congratulated the population of the North-East on behalf of the Government, for this great solidarity around the canal project which impacted the entire country and provoked a great movement of unity.

The delegation announced to the Committee that the Haitian State had taken steps to irrigate the Maribaroux plain and that it was going to use all available mechanisms to do so; she also announced that a mission would be dispatched to assess the technical and financial needs so that construction could continue in the best possible conditions and be useful to the population. The Committee welcomed this decision by the Government.

The technical mission announced by the delegation left Port-au-Prince on Friday October 27 to go to Ouanaminthe.
