As part of the Year of Haitian Heritage launched by the Ministry of Culture, the Institute for the Safeguarding of National Heritage (ISPAN) will carry out rehabilitation work at the "Barrière-Bouteille and Vertières" sites in Cap- Haitien.

This work, which begins this month, is financed by the Public Treasury through the Ministry of Culture.

The Ministry recalls that these two sites located in the North department, are living witnesses to our liberating struggles "Vertières and Barrière-Bouteille were at the heart of the memorable battle which led to the fall of the colonial slave system of Santo Domingo on November 18, 1803 and of which this year brings the 220th anniversary"
