iciHaiti - FLASH : Abinader convenes the National Security Council to discuss the situation in Haiti
Homero Figueroa, Spokesman for the Presidency and Director of Government Strategy, announced that President Luis Abinader has convened an extraordinary meeting of the National Security Council, for this Monday, September 11, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. at the Police Palace National. This meeting responds to growing concern about the evolving situation in Haiti. President Abinader will chair the meeting whose only item on the agenda will be the situation at the border with Haiti and the monitoring of actions implemented to deal with it.

The Minister of the Interior and Police, Jesús Vásquez Martínez, is summoned to this meeting; the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa; the Director of the National Police, Major General Eduardo Alberto Then; the President of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), Vice Admiral José Manuel Cabrera Ulloa; senior military commanders; the Head of the National Intelligence Directorate (DNI), as well as other senior officials.

President Abinader and his security team will comprehensively address the situation in Haiti and coordinate necessary actions to protect the nation's interests.
