iciHaiti - Culture : Tribute to the illustrious painter Rose-Marie Desruisseau, who died in 1988 31/08/2023 09:01:23 On this day marking its 90th birthday, the Ministry recalls its invaluable contribution to the enhancement of Haitian art throughout the world. The pictorial works of Rose-Marie are often marked by drawings of vèvè. However, these types of representations do not make her a voodoo painter. Indeed, she also told the story of Haiti through her painting. Rose-Marie Desruisseau has had an enriching career. She is also considered one of the few Haitian painters to benefit from a monograph. At 15, she joined the Centre d’Art here she was supervised by Lucien Price. She was also one of the painters who marked all the movements and flowerings that Haitian painting experienced in 1959, by frequenting the main painters of the time. Rose-Marie grew up in Diquini, a town in the commune of Carrefour. On this date of her birthday, the Ministry of Culture pays a vibrant tribute to this artist who has greatly influenced the Haitian artistic community. IH/ iciHaiti
