iciHaiti - Telecom : Training of new radio amateurs in the country

Following the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the National Telecommunications Council (CONATEL) and the Radio Club of Haiti (RCH), the two entities have jointly launched a training course for CONATEL engineers and young executives on learning Morse code and techniques for using Amateur Radio equipment. The objective of this 90-day training is to professionally equip new Radio Amateurs in Haiti.

About twenty CONATEL employees took part in this training in order to strengthen the existing group of Amateur Radios in the country.

The two trainers, Jean Robert Gaillard, and Pierrick Madsen placed great emphasis on learning the Morse alphabet as the basis of the language of Amateur Radio.

They recalled that it is a little-known public service tool whose importance for the community is justified especially in the event of natural disasters.
