iciHaiti - Health : The MSPP participated in the 70th annual conference «Epidemic Intelligence Service»
Dr. Alex Larsen, Haitian Minister of Public Health (MSPP) at the head of a delegation from his Ministry, recently participated in the 70th annual scientific conference of Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) as well as the international Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) evenings co-organized by Training Programs in Epidemiology and Public Health Interventions Network (TEPHINET) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

This flagship conference on applied epidemiology offered an ideal opportunity to discover and share a whole range of work carried out: cutting-edge surveys, scientific discoveries, avant-garde strategies, etc...

The team from the Department of Epidemiology, Laboratory and Research (DELR) took the opportunity to present the Field Epidemiology Training Program and the participants were also able to appreciate the field projects implemented by EIS agents in Haiti.

Minister Larsen and his delegation met and exchanged with many key people in the world of field epidemiology. In this perspective, it was suggested to have a National Institute of Public Health in Haiti, which could coordinate all public health activities. In the same spirit, the Faculty of Medicine of the State University of Haiti could, in the short term, ensure the implementation of the advanced level of the program FETP.
