iciHaiti - Obituary : Mireille Pérodin Jérôme, a great loss for the Haitian artistic world 09/04/2023 09:38:08 Native of Port-au-Prince (born April 13, 1952), Mireille Pérodin Jérôme directed the Ateliers Jean-René Jérôme for a long time, named after her husband, the famous artist Jean-René Jerôme, whose works participated in the renewal of the figurative codes of Haitian plastic art. Mireille Pérodin has greatly contributed to the promotion of Haitian plastic arts and has made it possible to discover or get to know artists better by producing texts on their work. Les Ateliers Jérôme, in the Champ de Mars, which was one of his best-known addresses, (currently in Pétion-Ville) has been a place of reference which has hosted various cultural activities, including signature sales and readings. It was not uncommon to come across creators like Georges Castera or Arnold Antonin. Mireille Pérodin Jérôme was co-curator, in 2015, of the exhibition "Haiti two centuries of artistic creation" which took place at the Grand Palais in Paris from November 19, 2014 to February 15, 2015, the largest exhibition of Haitian art. in history.
