iciHaiti - Diaspora Canada : Tribute from the Embassy of Haiti to the Haitian Association of the Maritimes
This year again, the Embassy of Haiti in Canada is pleased to honor a group of institutions and personalities of the Haitian community who, through their achievements, have contributed to strengthening relations between Canada and Haiti, while projecting a positive image of our country.

Tribute to the Haitian Maritime Association (ASHAMA) :
The Haitian Maritimes Association (ASHAMA) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote Haitian culture, to create a Haitian network called to preserve and promote the values of this culture in Moncton, New Brunswick.

ASHAMA was created in 2013 on the initiative of Sancia Doret-Robinson with the support of a group of friends wishing to work, within the framework of an association, for the integration of Haitians and Haitians established in the Atlantic provinces.

ASHAMA carries out various activities each year aimed at developing unity and solidarity within the community, while promoting Haitian culture.

The program of activities includes: Independence and New Year celebrations; Mothers Day ; Flag Day; the summer BBQ-Picnic; dance parties; round tables on immigration, integration, career choice; the gaming championship; participation in the Mosaïque du Grand Moncton festival; Saint John's Culture Fest; participation in the "Afro Culture from Here" festival.

The Association now plans to launch new projects such as the census of Haitians living in the Maritimes; a reception service for new arrivals; the granting of scholarships to Haitian students; Creole and folklore lessons.
