During the year 2022, there were 1,155 accidents across the whole country (-24% compared to 2021) which resulted in a total of 5,234 victims (+3.5% compared to 2021) including 654 deaths (-11.6% compared to 2021) and 4,580 injured (+6.14% compared to 2021) A significant drop in accidents was recorded in the last 4 months of 2022 due to rising prices and fuel shortages. These accidents occurred mainly on national roads and secondary roads.
