iciHaiti - Fuels : Oil companies would be responsible for the shortage
The Executive Board of the National Association of Service Station Owners (ANAPROSS) informs the population in general and the authorities concerned in particular, that certain oil companies have a new practice of demanding from the managers and owners of service stations the payment of their orders in US dollars...

With pump prices as set by the Government in September 2022 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-37648-haiti-flash-the-new-fuel-prices-are-in-effect-anger-is-growing.html and taking into account the Gourdes / Dollars exchange rate on the market, the cost price per gallon greatly exceeds the price at the pump underlines ANAPROSS.

As a result, some service stations are dry. Fuel is not available in the majority of provincial towns despite the release of the Varreux terminal... deplores ANAPROSS.

These practices only hinder the availability of petroleum products at service stations and have the immediate effect of worsening the already precarious economic situation of an entire population...

"We urge the authorities to address this problem without delay and find a solution for the greater good of all. Otherwise, the owners and managers of service stations will be forced to suspend their commercial activities."
