iciHaiti - Boat-People : 142 Haitians intercepted in the waters of the Turks and Caicos Islands
Earlier this week, a radar operator from the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Maritime Operations Center (RTCIPF) reported a suspicious boat in the waters of the Turks and Caicos Islands (ITC),

The maritime branch of the RTCIPF intercepted around 9:20 p.m. the dangerously overloaded boat which had on board 142 Haitian boat-people in an irregular migratory situation (108 men, 32 women and 2 minors) who were handed over safe and sound to the hands of the immigration officers at South Dock for follow-up and repatriation proceedings.

The RTCIPF, faced with the danger of this type of trip, advises the public to inform the nearest police station or to contact "Crime Stoppers" and give any information on illegal activity anonymously. Let's remember that Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization and not a police service.
