iciHaiti - Jérémie : The Hospital Center of Saint-Antoine switches to solar energy

The Center Hospitalier de Saint-Antoine de Jérémie, which serves 13 other municipalities in various departments, has received from several partners, including UNICEF and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA - Haiti), a photovoltaic solar energy system to promote access to health care.

This solar energy installation will allow emergency, maternity, surgery and internal medicine services to operate regularly and the community will no longer be denied health care due to lack of electricity.

For nearly three years, access to the Great South of Haiti has been difficult due to the blocking and control of roads by armed gangs. The situation has worsened with the absence of petroleum products on the market and the reappearance of cholera.

This action falls within the framework of the 3 transformative objectives of UNFPA Haiti including the end of preventable maternal deaths by the facilitation of sexual and reproductive health services.
