iciHaiti - OIM : Cuba repatriates 70 Haitians to Port-au-Prince
Despite the security challenges, the International Organization for Migration (IOM - Haiti) continues to support the National Office for Migration (ONM) to provide assistance and ensure the protection of vulnerable migrants returning to the country.

It is in this context that on Sunday, September 25, IOM provided assistance to 70 Haitian nationals in an irregular migratory situation repatriated to Port-au-Prince by Cuba.

At Port-au-Prince International Airport, repatriated Haitians received hygiene kits and cash assistance to cover their most urgent needs and return home with dignity. The IOM protection team also carried out medical consultations and provided psychosocial support to the most vulnerable.

The forced return Haitians were able to contact their loved ones using the telephones made available to them. They were taken to the bus station to be able to return to their place of residence. The assistance was made possible thanks to the support of the European Community Humanitarian Office (ECHO).

IOM's toll-free helpline, number 8840 remains available for any questions.
