iciHaiti - Music : «Follow Jah» et «Gagá la 30» : Walking band in unison in the Dom. Republic 09/06/2022 10:00:40
Monday, June 6, 2022, it was a real party that closed this 48-hour meeting. The small courtyard of the Portail de la Culture, in the colonial zone of Santo Domingo, was crowded with the public and the atmosphere very festive between "Gagá la 30" from San Pedro de Macoris and the rara "Follow Jah" from Pétion-ville. Hearing the Dominican musicians sing the Creole songs and the drums and vaccines of the two countries forming a single rhythm, have brilliantly translated the success of this binational dialogue, started the day before between the formations of the two countries. Earlier in the afternoon, Rara and Gagá had combined their knowledge during a workshop in this same place. At the end of July, it will be Haiti's turn to host these meetings. A unique opportunity for musicians, researchers and students to discuss this popular tradition common to the two countries of the island.
