iciHaiti - DR : Violence against a Haitian, 2 DGM agents revoked (Video)
The Directorate General of Migration (DGM) informs that it dismissed two agents of the security service of the establishment, after finding that they had committed serious misconduct in the exercise of their functions against a Haitian.

She explained that these agents who appear in a video circulating on social networks, in which we see them beating a Haitian citizen, at the "Centro de Acogida del Vacacional" in Haina https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-36540-haiti-flash-violence-by-migration-agents-against-a-haitian-video.html , did not use the corresponding protocol to submit to obedience to a Haitian citizen and made disproportionate use strength in this case.

The DGM stresses that the investigation report led to their dismissal from the institution and that the said report was transmitted to their military institution so that they could also be sanctioned in accordance with the military disciplinary regulations.

The Directorate General of Migration emphasizes that it will not tolerate the mistreatment or violation of the human rights of immigrants and that those who use such practices will have the corresponding sanctions.

Reacting to this decision, the former Prime Minister and Chancellor Claude Joseph who had denounced this case of violence declared "I congratulate the Directorate General of Migration of the Dominican Republic which took the decision, following my denunciation, to dismiss of the institution the officers who mistreated a Haitian immigrant. This is a step in the right direction. But, the important thing is to stop these systematic abuses against Haitians in the Dominican Republic."
