iciHaiti - Politic : World Press Freedom Day
As part of World Press Freedom Day (May 3), Acting Prime Minister Ariel Henry reiterated his commitment to press freedom "I want, on this day, to pay a vibrant tribute to these hardworking media workers for their continued commitment to freedom of expression. I recognize and value their fight for the right to information. My government is, more than ever, determined to guarantee the freedom of the press, and to scrupulously watch over its respect, its defense and its sustainability."

For her part, Emmelie Prophète Milcé, the Minister of Communication saluted the memory of all those who, at the cost of their blood and their lives, fought the attacks on freedom of expression. She congratulates the commitment of ethical Haitian journalists, who work tirelessly with ethics to denounce, criticize in order to help build a better future for future generations.

Let's remember that in Haiti, the safety of journalists remains a concern. Only that since the beginning of the year 2022, 3 media professionals, Wilguens Louissaint, Amady John Wesley https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-35656-haiti-flash-2-haitian-journalists-fall-under-gangs-bullets.html and Lazarre Maximilien https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-36033-haiti-flash-demonstration-4-journalists-injured-including-one-fatally.html , have been killed in the exercise of their profession.

The Embassy of France in Haiti congratulates the Haitian press for the determination with which it accomplishes its mission of information despite the difficult context that the country is going through. "A free press aware of its ethical duties, which maintains the concern to inform without hatred and without fear, is one of the pillars of any democracy and the condition for building a freer and more fraternal society."
