iciHaiti - Literature : Poet Jean D'Amérique recipient of the 2022 Heather-Dohollau Prize 16/04/2022 10:09:31 His new book extends the line traced since "Nul chemin dans la peau que saignante étreinte". The young Haitian author, deploying his creative resources, raising his protesting voice against the game of dupes of routine institutions, partial blocs, border walls, with rage and generosity. His poetry is then critical of an old selfish continent and praises the interbreeding between human beings, beyond identity tensions and blinders. A veritable song rises from his words to the jostling of established orders, welcoming popular uprisings and rejecting obscurantist tyrannies. "Atelier du silence", confirms the power and creativity of the writing of the young Haitian author. In his poems, a man raises his voice against institutions, against blocks and borders. His words shake up the order, invoke the peoples and the martyrs of tyrannies. With rigor and without idealism, Jean D'Amérique once again affirms the power of poetry, which takes its strength, he tells us, in silence : if I had the floor / I would ask for a minute of silence / for my freedom of expression stifled.
