iciHaiti - Literature : The young author Luis Bernard Henry wins the 2022 Deschamps Prize
On Friday April 8, 2022, at the El Rancho hotel, as part of the 46th edition of the Lucienne Deschamps Foundation, during a ceremony to award the 2022 Deschamps Prize, chaired by the novelist Evelyne Trouillot, the Deschamps Prize was awarded to the young author from Les Cayes Luis Bernard Henry titled for his novel "La petite fille bleue". Note that Luis Bernard Henry (24) is a graduating student in Political Science and Legal Science at the State University of Haiti (UEH).

Peter Frish, the Director General of the Lucienne Deschamps Foundation, recalled that the Deschamps Prize is accompanied by a check for 175,000 Gourdes as well as 1,000 copies of the novel.

"When you read 'La petite fille bleue', you feel the beauty of the words and the strength of the ideas. The work of the jury is a work of proofreading and discussion. This year, there was not really a lot of work. We were won over immediately after reading Luis Bernard Henry's book. The language is beautiful. The characters have a complex and endearing trajectory. The force of the ideas and the issues raised in the book are done with elegance and beauty. Literature is enriched by it,", declared Evelyne Trouillot, President of the Jury.
