iciHaiti - Cap-Haitien : Training of inspectors of the urban planning department 28/03/2022 10:02:24
This training is part of a series of activities to raise awareness of the population on seismic risks and to strengthen the capacity of inspectors from the management of the territory of the Town Hall, so that they can be able to better supervise the construction works at the level of the commune, but also to enforce the National Building Construction Code. The city of Cap-Haitien is exposed to a high seismic risk, due to its proximity to the northern fault, which is why the Municipal Commission is committed to the fight against anarchic constructions in the commune in order to limit the damage in the event of a major earthquake like the one that hit the metropolitan area in 2010. Raising awareness and educating the public and institutions are essential and urgent for the Municipal Commission, in order to reduce the vulnerability of the population faced the unpredictable arrival of a major earthquake.
