iciHaiti - Culture : Launch of the fortnight of the Francophonie
Mrs. Luz Kurta Cassandra François, Minister of Tourism in the presence of the Minister of Culture Émelie Prophet Milce, the Director of the Regional Representation of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), the Director of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie, (AUF) the Ambassadors of French-speaking countries accredited in Haiti, proceeded last week to the launch of the fortnight of the Francophonie in Haiti around the theme "La Francophonie of the future".

This year's Francophonie fortnight has a busy agenda, ranging from integration programs for women, employment promotion programs and digital entrepreneurship, to "youth and green space" forums, passing by the "Award of the young French-speaking entrepreneur"…

"Encouraging young people is in line with the World Tourism Organization's 2030 sustainable development program," said Minister François.

Excerpts from the speech of the Minister of Culture Emmelie Prophète :

"[...] Here we are opening an annual event that we really like : the 'Quinzaine de la francophonie' (fortnight of the Francophonie). It is a privileged moment to ask ourselves questions, evaluate our work, decide what more can be done in favor of equality, to share knowledge and above all to think of all those who on the 5 continents live in this language or uses it.

[...] The Fortnight of the Francophonie is a particular period for Haiti. For a country, conceived and born out of a desire to uphold and defend essential values of humanism and universalism, the presence and work of the OIF reassure and guarantee Haiti's place in a political and linguistic community that makes diversity the basis of its commitment.

[...] More than ever, Haiti needs to speak to the world, to get out of this insularity that the history of its relations with other States has imposed on it. Haiti needs to break its loneliness, to get out of the cycle of charity to sit around the table with partners who understand that this country can also contribute to the maintenance of an open, respectful cooperation project that guarantees the promotion of all expressions of local culture, traditions and knowledge [...]"
