iciHaiti - Literature : Dany Laferrière enters the Grévin Museum in Paris
This Tuesday, February 1, 2022, the wax statue of the Haitian-Canadian academician Dany Laferrière will enter the Grévin museum in Paris, the academician will be present and officially inducted by Christine Orban, member of the Grévin academy.

His wax statue, the work of the sculptor Claus Velt, will be visible to visitors to the Gévin museum, which is celebrating its 140th anniversary from Wednesday February 2, 2022.

6 months of work were needed to create his character. Dany Laferrière took great pleasure in participating in each stage of the creation with the sculptor Claus Velte and the teams of the Grévin workshops, whose quality and meticulousness of the work allowed a result that was more real than life.

During the first meeting, he lent himself to the game of photos, videos, 3D image captures, face and body measurements and hand moldings.

A second meeting confronted the model and the modeling. Finally, several months later, the final details such as hairstyle and facial makeup were checked.

As tradition dictates, Dany Laferrière chose the outfit for his double, represented seated on an armchair and holding in his hands a book by his favorite writer: Borges.

After being presented at Grévin Montreal, which is now closed, his character moves to Paris, to the delight of visitors who will be able to immortalize their meeting with their favorite writer.

Dany Laferrière will be represented in the setting of the literary café not far from his friends Jean d'Ormesson and Bernard Pivot.

"Reading is not necessary for the body (it can even be harmful), only oxygen is. But a good book oxygenates the mind," said Dany Laferrière. A maxim that his wax double will be able to share at the Museum in the company of Jean de La Fontaine, or Marcel Proust, who entered in 2019, as well as Guillaume Apollinaire or Jules Verne...
