iciHaiti - COVID-19 : Pupils and university students are not immune to the coronavirus 01/11/2021 10:06:53
The Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of National Education notify preschool and school officials, university rectors, vocational school officials, teaching staff, parents, pupils, students, young people and the entire population, in general, that a considerable increase in the number of cases tested positive for Covid-19 has been observed in the country https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-35133-haiti-diaspora-covid-19-daily-bulletin-590.html which also affect pupils and university students since the start of the school year.
Faced with this situation, vigilance is required and as such, the two Ministries recall the preventive measures to be taken to prevent the spread of Covid-19 :
- Wearing the mask;
- Systematic hand washing with soap or a hydro-alcoholic solution;
- Temperature taking compulsory before entering the classrooms;
- Respect for physical distancing, at least 1.50m between each person;
- Adoption of means of greeting other than hugs and handshakes.
In addition, the two Ministries invite preschool and school directors, rectors and other academic officials of universities as well as vocational school officials, in the event that a pupil or student presents signs and/or symptom, such as drowsiness, body aches, fever, cough, headache, loss of concentration, the following recommendations should be strictly followed :
- Send the pupil or student home / while asking their parents for medical follow-up;
- Expel the whole class if at least one of the pupils or one of the students is confirmed positive;
- Ask the teaching staff and all classmates of a pupil or student who tested positive for Covid-19 to put themselves in isolation for 10 days and to be tested before any readmission in the classroom;
- To proceed with the decontamination of the classroom ;
- Accept the pupil or student previously tested positive, in the classroom on presentation of a medical certificate issued 7 to 10 days after the disappearance of signs and symptoms.
Remember that anyone aged at least 18, if they wish, can be vaccinated against Covid-19 at the vaccination site closest to their home.
