Friday, October 15, 2021, the National Police of Haiti (PNH) arrested the named Edner Désir accused of self-kidnapping as part of an investigation, carried out following the filing of a complaint by his wife at the Police Station of St-Marc, suggesting that her husband had been kidnapped by armed individuals last Tuesday in the area of Kebro city.

Edner Désir confessed, during his hearing at the Departmental Service of Judicial Police, (SDPJ) of Artibonite, to have simulated his own kidnapping in order to extract money from his mother who lives abroad.

The accomplices of the alleged victim had in fact contacted the mother to demand a ransom of 50,000 US dollars in exchange for her release.
