iciHaiti - Theater : The play «Opéra Poussière» by Jean D’Amérique wins the 2021 RFI Theater Prize 27/09/2021 09:14:47
This theatrical work is dedicated to the life of Sanité Bélaire (forgotten figure in the history of Haiti), sergeant then lieutenant of the Haitian revolutionary army, resistance member and Haitian heroine of the anti-colonialist struggle carried out in 1802, at the age of 21, murdered by French soldiers in 1802. "Working on all registers of the language, this text interweaves dreams and claims and testifies to a classicism nourished by hip hop poetry" said the Jury in a press release about the play "Opéra Poussière" Reacting to this good news, Emmanuel Jacquet Minister of Culture declared "On behalf of the Ministry of Culture and on my own behalf, I congratulate the writer Jean d'Amerique who wins the RFI Théâtre 2021 Prize, for his play Opéra Poussière.
