iciHaiti - Earthquake : The army to protect humanitarian convoys
The Government vehemently condemns the attacks and the looting on Friday August 20 of 4 trucks of humanitarian aid from the Food for the Poor organization (FFTP) in the areas of Camp-Perrin, Duchity, and the Rivière Glace https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34550-haiti-news-zapping.html

"While deploring this serious serious incident that has occurred, at a time when more than ever the solidarity of all Haitians is called upon, the Government has already taken all the necessary measures to prevent such isolated movements against humanitarian convoys and citizens who take the Great South route to rescue our brothers and sisters who were victims of the earthquake of August 14, 2021."

The Government calls on the Haitian population as well as those affected by the earthquake to remain calm in order to allow operators of the humanitarian aid distribution chain operating on the ground to be more effective.

The Haitian National Police (PNH) intends to strengthen its presence at RN #2 in order to secure the humanitarian aid convoys intended for the population of the Great South. To this end, several specialized units of the PNH were mobilized to escort the convoys, informed the Divisional Inspector Marie Michèle Verrier, the spokesperson of the police institution, on August 19, 2021. A security that has not prevented the next day the attack and looting of Food for the Poor (FFTP) trucks

On Saturday August 21, 2021, members of the Armed Forces of Haiti were mobilized to ensure the security of a humanitarian aid convoy en route to the town of Saint-Louis du Sud.
