Explanatory note from the Taiwanese Embassy : "The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Haiti learned this Thursday, July 8, 2021 in the morning that the Haitian police (PNH) intended to enter the Embassy to pursue suspects. The cruel and barbaric assassination of HE President Jovenel Moïse is a major international event and has completely shocked the whole world. Taiwan, as a responsible member of the international community, a long-time faithful friend and a credible partner of the Republic of Haiti, its Embassy gives the agreement without disruption to the Haitian police and authorizes it to conduct a search operation in order to demonstrate justice and uncover the truth of the incident as soon as possible. Police launched an operation around 4 p.m. and successfully arrested 11 suspects. The process went smoothly. The Haitian police took them away for questioning. The Embassy welcomes the rapid reaction of the Haitian authorities and continues, as always, to work alongside the Haitian people."
