iciHaiti - ELSA : Haiti seems to have avoided the worst 04/07/2021 09:06:56
On Saturday July 3, 2021, Category 1 hurricane Elsa, downgraded to a tropical storm, passed off the southwest coast of Haiti, continuing its route towards Jamaica and southeastern Cuba before heading towards the Florida.
Elsa, whose wind force ultimately did not exceed 100 km/h, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), appears according to preliminary information to have caused no major damage in Haiti while awaiting the next post-Elsa toll.
"There are fairly intense gusts of wind and light rain, but so far we have not recorded any damage," Jerry Chandler, the Director of Civil Protection, reported on Saturday.
