iciHaiti - Village de Dieu : BINUH shocked by the death of several police officers
In a note, the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) said it was shocked by the death of several members of the security forces on Friday March 12 in the Village-de-Dieu district https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-33226-haiti-flash-failure-of-the-anti-gang-operation-in-village-de-dieu-several-police-officers-killed-others-injured.html

"The United Nations express their condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims, to the Haitian National Police (PNH), as well as to the Haitian people and wish to be associated with their immense grief.

In a deleterious security context, it is imperative that the circumstances surrounding the tragic events of March 12 be clarified and that the perpetrators of this killing be arrested, prosecuted, and brought to justice. The same goes for all the serious crimes committed in the country.

BINUH and the United Nations encourage the Haitian authorities to increase, in strict compliance with the law and human rights, their efforts to improve the security situation and fight impunity. In addition, we call on all those involved in national life to unite resolutely to fight against the violence and insecurity which so deeply affect the country.

The United Nations remains resolutely committed to supporting national efforts to advance peace and stability in Haiti.
