In order to improve the services given to Haitian nationals established in Saint Laurent du Maroni (border town with Suriname), Judnie Galdine Soufrant, the Consul General of Haiti in Cayenne received, Ms. Sophie Charles, the Mayor of the Commune of Saint Laurent du Maroni who was accompanied by his Chief of Staff Philippe Joan and Jean Henry Joseph elected of Haitian origin elected to the Municipal Council.

During this fruitful meeting, it was agreed that new arrangements be made jointly to facilitate the resumption of the permanence of the Haitian Consulate in Saint Laurent du Maroni under better sanitary conditions.

It was also an opportunity for the Consul General to present to elected officials the major projects of the Haitian Government including the referendum in Haiti and to seek logistical support from the town hall as part of the awareness of the Western Haitian Community on the Constitutional reform.
