iciHaiti - Obituary : Words of Sympathy by the Minister of Culture
It is with sadness that Pradel Henriquez the Minister of Culture and Communication learned the news of the death of journalist, critic and art columnist, Wébert Lahens https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-32953-icihaiti-obituary-passing-away-of-professor-and-cultural-journalist-webert-lahens.html which occurred on February 2 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston at the age of 71 following a long illness.

"[...] Lahens was a communication professional, sensitive to the art and culture of his country. In this sense, he linked up with the Ministry of Culture to which he offered, often on a voluntary basis, his advice to advance the culture of Haiti.

Known as a teacher, lecturer, protocol specialist, journalist, Wébert Lahens was a supporter of a job well done. His passion for beauty was matched only by his determination to share, teach or transmit.

Founder of the Short Term Training and Creativity Center, Wébert Lahens has put his skills with refinement and excellence, at the service of young people, administrative executives and the entire Haitian community.

We cannot count the number of young professionals trained or supervised by Professor Webert Lahens. Through his articles and lectures, he has always strived to encourage knowledge of Haitian culture, to discover talents, particularly in the fields of painting, plastic arts in general, and literature.

The disappearance of Wébert Lahens leaves a great void in the world of art criticism and even literary criticism.

Minister Pradel Henriquez offers his heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, cultural professionals, members of the press and the Center for Short-Term Training and Creativity.
