It is with great dismay that the Management of the Radio Repère des Îles (RRI), noted, early in the morning of Thursday January 28, the fire which completely destroyed the buildings of Mazmotte Club and Restaurant as well as its giantstand, also serving as a space for unwinding for visitors during the carnival festivities in Jacmel.

Remember that since 2019, the administration of RRI, broadcasting in Jacmel, on the modular frequency 106.5 FM Stereo, has been developing a partnership with Mazmotte Club which aims to house a studio at the station on the Club stand, during the carnival.

Thus, since the official launch of the 2021 carnival, on Sunday January 17, the administration of Radio Repère des Îles has mobilized its equipment, its technical team and its journalists, on Barranquilla Avenue, to ensure the retransmission of one of the events. most popular cultural heritage to which the city is heir.

This fire, which broke out on the night of Wednesday January 27 through Thursday January 28, 2021, caused enormous economic losses for several homeowners. At least three houses were destroyed by the violent fire, the origin of which is currently unknown. The antenna station's retransmission equipment, "exciter", cables, among others, were also destroyed.

Subject to several threats and attacks, by individuals in opposition to the organization of the carnival in Jacmel, in the years 2019 and 2020, Mazmotte Club was already the victim of an attempted arson. Faced with this situation, the management of RRI would like an in-depth investigation to be carried out by the competent authorities in order to determine the origin of this fire. In addition, it brings its solidarity to all the other companies victims of this tragedy.
