Friday, November 27 during a virtual ceremony Samuel Pierre of Haitian origin, full professor in the Department of Computer Engineering and Software Engineering, received the highest distinction from the Order of Engineers of Quebec (OIQ) during the 2020 edition of the Evening of Excellence in Engineering.

During the ceremony co-hosted by the President of the Order Kathy Baig and the musician Gregory Charles, the Order of Engineers awarded Professor Pierre the Grand Prize for Professional Excellence which aims to recognize excellence in professional practiceof a person based on the core values of the engineering profession. This prestigious distinction, which also underlines the exceptional career of an engineer by taking into consideration her achievements and her professional attitude, thus proposes the laureate as a model to all members.

"I am very happy to receive this Grand Prize for professional excellence which is a synthesis of the qualities and values of an engineer, as I have been teaching them for more than two decades, namely the scope of achievements, skills - knowledge, know-how and interpersonal skills, social commitment and leadership," declared Samuel Pierre during the award ceremony.
