iciHaiti - Literature : A Haitian wins the «RFI - AUF Young Writing Prize» 30/10/2020 11:17:35 As sanitary conditions did not allow a face-to-face award ceremony, the ceremony took place entirely remotely. The awards were presented by Cécile Mégie, Director of RFI and by Professor Slim Khalbous, Rector of the AUF. The 673 works in competition generated on the site https://short-edition.com/fr/ 510,000 readings, 92,100 votes and 63,400 comments. The "Audience Award" was also awarded to the short story "Le Minuscule Géant", written by Louendy Chery (Haiti), a medical student at the State University of Haiti. Remember that the "RFI - AUF Young Writing Prize" is intended to encourage the writing of short French-language stories. It is aimed at students from 1,007 AUF member universities and institutions in 119 countries. The participants of this second edition had to compose a fiction, in French, of 8000 characters maximum and which had to start with the sentence (Suis-je dans le noir ou ai-je les yeux fermés ? Peut-être les deux.) "Am I in the dark or have my eyes closed ? Maybe both.", The incipit of " mille maisons du rêve et de la terreur" by Atiq Rahimi, published by P.O.L.
