iciHaiti - USA : 18 illegal migrants arrested after their arrival at Hillsboro Beach
According to U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, a total of 18 migrants from Haiti, Bahamas and Jamaica traveled in a twin-engine boat arrived ashore at Hillsboro Beach, near Block 1000 of A1A, early Friday morning.

"Once customs officers at the scene, they discovered the boat which had been stranded on the beach," Deputy Chief Adam Hoffner said.

Hillsboro Beach Police officers, as well as the Broward Sheriff's Office, arrested the 18 migrants who were in a nearby storage shed who attempted to escape...

According to investigators, this overnight trip was extremely dangerous, pointing out that the migrants aboard the overloaded small boat were lucky to have arrived ashore safely.

The group of migrants has been handed over to border patrol officials and will be processed for repatriation proceedings to their country of origin.
