IciHaiti - Road safety : Particularly murderous week
Garnel Michel Coordinator of the Haitian organization Technical and Operational Services to Stop Accidents (STOP-Accidents), informs us that for the week of July 20 to 26, 2020, 32 road accidents on the national territory (+ 200%) compared to the previous week https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-31333-icihaiti-road-safety-16-accidents-at-least-31-victims.html made at least 79 victims (+ 154%): 15 deaths (+ 400%) including a young doctor, two employees of the Ministry of Tourism https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-31376-haiti-security-andy-durosier-dg-of-the-ministry-of-tourism-victim-of-a-terrible-accident.html and 64 injured (+ 128%) including several seriously.

Delmas 60, Brenabit (Pignon), Delmas 83, Arcachon 32, route 9, Léogane, Cayes, Baie des Mosquitos (Port-de-Paix), Petit-Goâve among others, are the main communes and areas where these accidents were recorded.

Remember that this weekly report was carried out in partnership with the National Ambulance Center (CAN) and the Haitian Red Cross. However, due to lack of resources STOP-Accident is unable to monitor the state of health of the injured, some of whom die as a result of their injuries and are not counted.

STOP-Accidents, reiterates its call for caution on our roads and urges the Government to strengthen prevention measures and to set up a systematic vehicle inspection service.
