iciHaiti - Nippes : Distribution of trees and agricultural inputs
In the objective of reviving agricultural production and protecting the environment against natural hazards, the Ministry of Agriculture via the Resilient Productive Territories Project (TPR), this week began plowing work in the department of Nippes more precisely in the commune of Anse-à-Veau, Paillant and Petite-Rivière de Nippes, in order to develop 2,000 hectares of land.

Thanks to funding from the World Bank, the people in charge of the TPR project made people happy by distributing seeds of corn, peas, fruit and forest seedlings, including citrus, banana, cedar, mango, etc...

The beneficiaries did not hide their satisfaction. Josette Jean Pierre, Bernade Prosper, two beneficiaries and who also act as distributors, declared that reforestation is closely linked to rural development "If we want to create the conditions for sustainable development, we must tackle the problem of reforestation."

Remember that the TPR Project aims to improve the adoption of agricultural and land management practices that increase resilience. According to Edmond Bernard, the local coordinator of the project, more than 3,000 families have already been selected to benefit from the support of the Ministries of Agriculture and the Environment within the framework of this project in order to enable them to create an activity generating short-term income.
